Double Horse Palakkadan (Unda) Matta Rice is an aromatic, traditional red rice variety sourced from the Palakkad region of Kerala. Carefully parboiled and minimally polished to retain the bran, this matta rice offers a naturally nutty taste, pleasant chew and a warm copper hue perfect for everyday meals and traditional South Indian preparations.

Cooking Instructions

  3. Stovetop (absorption method): Use 1 part rice : 2.25 2.5 parts water. Bring to boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer 25 30 minutes. Rest 5 10 minutes, then fluff with a fork.
  4. Pressure cooker: Use 1 part rice : 2 parts water, cook 2 whistles on medium heat, then let pressure release naturally.
